About us
History & Mission
Somali Family Service of San Diego was established in 2000 as a non-profit, community-based social service organization with the goal of addressing the lack of support services for Somali and other East African immigrants and refugees.

As an organization led and staffed by Somali community members, SFS was uniquely positioned to fill this gap in the community and provide culturally and linguistically responsive programs and services. Since its inception, SFS has greatly expanded our capacity to serve various immigrant and refugee communities. We now have staff members from many cultural and ethnic backgrounds who are able to support clients in over 15 different languages.

OUR MISSION

Somali Family Service, guided by its community champions, empowers immigrants, refugees, and other underserved communities in San Diego through its programs that promote health, educational and economic success, and leadership development.
