Somali Family Service (SFS) hosted the 6th Annual Youth Summit on Saturday, May 5th, 2018 at San Diego State University.
The theme of 2018's Youth Summit was "Steps to Strides - Finding your path". The summit aimed toward bringing awareness to the importance of establishing a legacy, setting achievable goals to pursue, and navigating resources to best achieve those goals. It also focused on topics significant to youth — such as balancing academic life and pursuing careers. The summit included workshops provided by industry professionals who encouraged staying engaged in their educational path - and the eventual transition into the workplace. A key focus of this youth summit was thinking larger than self and how to best serve and positively change not only ourselves and our local communities - but the larger community and world.
